Life
is good in The Virginia Piedmont! Small towns and villages
whose Main Streets and homes date back to the early days of the
country, dot the landscape. Large farms, horse ranches and orchards
extend for miles providing peaceful vistas and a sense of tranquility. Farmers
markets sell fresh locally-grown fruits, vegetables, cheeses and
other products of the region. And meandering through the landscape,
the Rappahannock, Rapidan, Rose and other rivers flow from the
Blue Ridge Mountains to their ultimate destination in the Chesapeake
Bay, providing habitat for wildlife and wonderful places to recreate
for locals and visitors.
We
invite you to walk down the Main Streets of the region’s
towns and see how historic buildings are meeting current day needs,
selling everything from antiques and baked goods whose recipes
have been handed down over generations to spas, coffee shops and
a wide array of restaurants that feature new exotic recipes and
ingredients. |

Specialty Farms
From sowing to harvest, the farms and vineyards of the Piedmont
offer a connection to the agricultural heritage that has helped
build our nation. From alpacas to apples, cheese to chickens, goats
to grapes, and more, the specialty farms of the Piedmont welcome
you.
Buy Fresh, Buy Local
As part of the region's effort to promote the healthy
fruits, vegetables and meat from grass-fed animals fresh from our
farms, and to support the global environment, by encouraging people
to buy produce that doesn't travel hundreds or thousands of miles
to get to your table, many of our farms participate in the Buy Fresh,
Buy Local national campaign. Click
here for more information on Buy Local Virginia.
