Culpeper's Davis Street named one of America's 'Great Streets'
The American Planning Association (APA)
has designated Davis Street as one of 10 Great Streets for 2011 under the organization's Great Places in America
program. APA Great Places exemplify exceptional character and highlight
the role planners and planning play in creating communities of lasting
value.
APA singled out Davis Street for its grassroots-driven revitalization
efforts that relied heavily on planning and design. Faced with
abandonment and neglect, residents and businesses rallied, creating
partnerships, crafting guidelines and securing grants in order to
resuscitate the heart of historic Culpeper.
